MPAATA .R.WILLIAMS’EXPERIENCE WITH STREET THEATRE IN UGANDA
Mpaata Rogers Williams performing an Abstract street theatre performance during the Bayimba International festival of the arts 2011
In
Uganda Street Theatre is moving to another level of professionalism as a
theatre form, I believe that Street theatre is all about inviting the general
public, as audience, to play and enjoy an artistic silly moment. Interaction with the audience is particularly
important in my performance which is mostly improvised. One of my main
challenges is to know who to approach to participate and usually I identify
people laughing however some people prefer to observe and I respect that.
