2013 street theatre performance in Wandegeya

In September the first Friday of the month three prominent performing artists, from THEATRE FACTORY “Mpaata Rogers Williams”, UYUTA KONVICTS “Treeka Kenneth Desire” and FEMAUS FRIENDS “Olango” stormed the streets of wadegeya a city suburb with a performance on unemployment among the youth in the country of Uganda.

This performance was an abstract street Theatre that combined dance, Mask acting and body clown with a piece portraying the causes of unemployment among the youth.

In Uganda Street Theatre is moving to another level of professionalism as a theatre form, I believe that Street theatre is all about inviting the general public, as audience, to play and enjoy an artistic silly moment.  Interaction with the audience is particularly important in my performance which is mostly improvised. One of my main challenges is to know who to approach to participate and usually I identify people laughing however some people prefer to observe and I respect that.

Invisible street performance written and directed by Mpaata Rogers Williams on child trafficking done in January 2013 to carry out a research on child trafficking by the reunite families Uganda in one of the suburbs of Kampala called Namuwungo.

 The public involved in an invisible street performance during a performance on child trafficking in Kampala’s suburbs.

 The performance ended up at the chairman of the suburb which triggered an interview about child trafficking.
